Patient Concerns

Patient Education

Patient education is very important to successful treatment. Our goal is that you are completely informed concerning your condition and any treatment that will be performed. We encourage you to take advantage of the information contained in this website and voice any questions you may have.

Patient Safety

We adhere to the highest professional standards of cleanliness, sterilization, and radiation control. We are periodically inspected by the State of Ohio and regularly monitor our own performance to insure that these standards are consistently upheld.

Dental Unit Water Line Purification

For your protection and health we are using DentaPure water purification cartridges on every dental unit.  Our dental unit water meets all applicable Federal and State Standards for dental unit water quality.  Our dental unit water also meets the recommendations of the American Dental Association for quality of dental unit waterline water.  Our water system purification technology has been used on all NASA manned space shuttle flights since 1976.

Sterilization

We know that preventing the spread of infectious diseases such as AIDS, herpes, hepatitis and even the cold virus is critical. We follow all sterilization procedures and infection control guidelines recommended by the American Dental Association and Centers for Disease Control.

We use barrier techniques such as disposable masks and gloves and replace them with every new patient. Each piece of fixed operatory equipment is wiped-down with antibacterial solution prior to every clinical procedure. Sterile water delivery and water purification systems are utilized. We use autoclave sterilization for all instruments prior to dental examination and treatment. You can be assured that our staff have been specifically trained on sterilization procedures and their importance.

Antibiotic Pre-medication

Patients with certain medical conditions (e.g. valvular heart conditions and artificial joints) may be asked to pre-medicate with antibiotics prior to treatment. We do this with your safety in mind. Please inform us if you have a condition that might require pre-medication.

Post Treatment Instructions

After treatment, home care and medication instructions will be thoroughly explained. For your convenience, you will also be given printed instructions. Of course, we are always available for questions after treatment.

Patient Comfort

We go out of our way to ensure that our patients are as comfortable as possible during dental procedures. Please click here for more information on this topic.

Special Equipment

We strive to incorporate leading-edge techniques and equipment wherever they can improve patient comfort, safety, or treatment outcomes. In order to do this, we take a great deal of continuing education. We also utilize advanced equipment in our office. This includes:

Soft Tissue Laser
The laser uses highly focused light energy to precisely remove small amounts of soft tissue with minimal trauma and bleeding. The laser is a useful adjunct to conventional surgical instruments in performing certain soft tissue procedures.

Piezosurgical Osteotome
Piezosurgery utilizes highly controlled ultrasonic vibration to precisely shape bone, while not affecting soft tissues. This technique is ideal for delicate procedures, such as periodontal surgery, bone augmentation, sinus grafts and alveolar ridge augmentation. It allows for more precision, faster healing, and less invasion.

Low Radiation Digital X-Rays
Digital X-Rays are taken with very low radiation and produce exceptional quality images. They aid in the extremely precise placement of dental implants. They are also more convenient when planning treatment with your general dentist.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)

This is a dental CAT scan which provides 3-dimensional imaging of the oral anatomy at a much lower cost and radiation dose compared to a medical CT scan. The CBCT scan provides diagnostic information not available with other types of dental x-rays and increases the accuracy and safety of implant placement.
